The short version
This site sells nothing. There are no accounts, no comments, no newsletter and no forms. There is nothing here to fill in, so there is nothing about you to store. The only thing that collects any data at all is Google Analytics, it stays switched off until you accept it, and the site behaves identically whether you accept or refuse.

Cookies, and what sets them
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. This site uses two categories and no others.
Strictly necessary
One item is kept in your browser's local storage, recording the choice you made about analytics. It contains one word, either granted or denied. It exists so the banner does not ask you again on every page. It cannot identify you and it is never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data removes it, and the banner will ask again.
Analytics, only with your consent
If you accept, Google Analytics 4 loads through Google Tag Manager and sets cookies that count your visit. If you refuse, or simply ignore the banner, nothing loads and no cookies are set.
This is enforced through Google Consent Mode, which means the refusal happens before the analytics tag is allowed to run, rather than the tag running and being politely asked not to look.
What Google Analytics collects, if you allow it
- Which pages you viewed, in what order, and how long you stayed
- How you arrived, for example a search engine, a link on another site, or typing the address directly
- Approximate location, at city level, derived from your IP address
- Device type, browser and screen size
- A randomly generated identifier that lets Google recognise the same browser returning later
Your full IP address is not stored. Google discards it after deriving the approximate location. No advertising features, remarketing or Google Signals are enabled on this property, so your activity here is not used to build advertising profiles or matched to a Google account.
Nothing on this site asks for your name, email address or anything else identifying, so none of that is collected, because it is never given.
Why, and on what legal basis
The purpose is narrow. Knowing which pages are actually read is how maintenance gets prioritised, and security writing that is not maintained becomes dangerous to the people who trust it.
The legal basis is your consent, under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR. You give it by choosing to accept, and you can withdraw it at any time, as easily as you gave it.
Changing or withdrawing your choice
Use the link, which also sits in the footer of every page. Choosing to reject stops any further collection immediately.
Data already sent to Google before you withdrew cannot be recalled by this site, though you can ask Google to delete it. You can also block analytics entirely with a browser extension or a browser that blocks trackers by default. Given the subject matter here, that is a perfectly reasonable thing to do and no offence is taken.
Who else receives data
Google Ireland Limited, as the analytics provider, and Google LLC as its parent. Google may transfer data outside the UK and the EEA, relying on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Their handling is covered by the Google privacy policy.
The site is hosted by SiteGround, whose servers keep standard access logs containing IP addresses for security and troubleshooting. Those are the host's own operational records rather than anything this site reads or analyses.
Fonts load from Google Fonts and Fontshare, which means your browser makes a request to those services and they see your IP address as a consequence. Neither sets a cookie.
Data is not sold, rented or shared with anyone else, and there is no advertising on this site.
How long it is kept
Analytics data is retained for 14 months and then deleted automatically. Your stored consent choice stays in your browser until you clear it.
Links to other sites
Pages here link to YourBitcoinCoach, to manufacturers, and to reference material elsewhere. Once you follow a link you are on somebody else's site under somebody else's privacy policy, and this one no longer applies.
Your rights
Under the UK and EU GDPR you may request access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing or portability, you may object to processing, and you may withdraw consent at any time. Because this site collects nothing that identifies you, there is usually nothing to retrieve, but requests are answered either way. Write to info@hideyourcrypto.org.
If you are not satisfied with the response you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to the supervisory authority in your own country.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it. Anything that widened what is collected would mean asking for your consent again, rather than quietly relying on consent you gave for something narrower.
