What "last reviewed" means

Every article shows a last reviewed date near the top. It means a person opened the page on that date, checked the claims in it against current sources, and either confirmed or corrected them.

It is not the publication date, and it is not generated automatically. A page that has not been rechecked does not get a fresh date by being edited for typos, and the date never updates by itself.

When a page passes its review window without a check, it displays a due a recheck marker instead. We would rather tell you a page may be stale than quietly let you assume it is current.

How often things are rechecked

  • Every six months: anything naming specific software, devices, providers, settings paths or prices. This is where instructions go out of date fastest.
  • Every twelve months: pages about principles and concepts, which change slowly but do change.
  • Immediately, out of cycle: after any significant incident, breach or change that makes existing advice wrong. Correcting a page beats being on schedule.

How claims are verified

Technical steps are checked against the primary source: the manufacturer's or provider's own current documentation, not a summary of it and not a memory of how it used to work. Where a page reports figures on crime, losses or incidents, the source is named and linked so you can judge it yourself.

Where evidence is genuinely uncertain, the page says so. Several estimates on this site disagree with each other, and pretending otherwise would be a worse failure than admitting the range.

Older material, including the guide that previously occupied this domain, is treated as a starting point for topics only. Nothing is republished because it was true once.

Independence

There are no affiliate links on this site, no sponsored posts, and no paid placements. Nobody pays to be recommended, and no recommendation earns a commission.

The site is run by Harvinder Bhogal, who also runs a paid Bitcoin coaching practice at YourBitcoinCoach, and links to it. That is the only commercial interest involved and it is disclosed on every page it appears on. Everything described here can be done by you, alone, without paying anyone.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, out of date, or has stopped working the way it is described, tell us and it will be fixed. Substantive corrections are made to the page and the review date is updated to reflect the recheck.

This matters more on a security site than most. A stale instruction does not simply fail to help. It can send someone confidently through steps that no longer protect them.

Scope, and what is out of it

This site covers protecting Bitcoin you already own, and protecting yourself as its owner. It publishes nothing about whether to buy Bitcoin, what it might be worth, how to trade it, how to reduce tax, or how to conceal assets from anyone entitled to know about them. Those limits are permanent and are not a matter of editorial fashion.
